The Taunton Council on Aging/Senior Center conducts regularly scheduled and special education programs throughout the year. Some of the education programs described below are subject to funding.
Beginner’s and Advanced Computer Education
The Taunton Council on Aging/Senior Center conducts Beginner’s and Advanced Computer and Internet Education classes for Taunton elders, sixty (60) years of age and older. The six-class Beginner’s course educates elders on basic knowledge of computer hardware and software, the many uses of Microsoft Word and how to browse the Internet. The six-class Advanced course reviews the basic information learned during the Beginner’s course and then delves deeper into various software and the Internet. The instructor of the Beginner’s and Advanced Computer Education courses is a student from the Bristol Plymouth Regional Technical High School Cooperative Education Program. A Community Development Block Grant, through the Office of Economic and Community Development, funds the Beginner’s and Advanced
Computer and Internet Education classes.

Computer and Internet Training Center for Elders
The Taunton Council on Aging/Senior Center provides Taunton elders, sixty (60) years of age and older, with the Computer and Internet Training Center. The Center not only provides education programs as stated above, but it is also available for elders of the community to schedule a time to come in for personal use.

Lectures/Instructional Workshops
The Taunton Council on Aging/Senior Center schedules special Lectures/Instructional Workshops throughout the year. Past topics have included: Tax Abatements, Circuit Breaker Program, Prescription Advantage, Senior Law, MassPro/Medicare and Reverse Mortgages.
