The City of Taunton and The Greater Attleboro / Taunton Home Consortium are proud to be able to assist eligible individuals and families with becoming first time homebuyers.
What is a First Time Homebuyer? A first time homebuyer is any person or persons who have not owned a home for a period of at least three years prior to the purchase of a new home using program funds. This includes displaced home-makers and single parents.
How can we help? Thru our service partner Pro-Home Incorporated, we can assist eligible homebuyers with down payment and closing cost assistance providing they purchase properties meeting the HUD guidelines as eligible properties. We can provide up to $10,000 dollars to cover closing costs shown on the good faith estimate, and up to 50% of the 5% down payment usually required.
Am I an eligible Homebuyer? To be eligible for assistance you must meet the low to moderate-income guidelines established by HUD. You must have all income and debt verified. You must attend both Pre-purchase and Post-purchase Homebuyer training courses; and the property purchased must be your primary residence. Of course you must have satisfactory credit and show there is a financial gap that you can not cover.
What is an eligible property? Eligible properties are any one to four family residence, condominium unit, cooperative unit, combination manufactured housing and house lot, or prefabricated housing on a lot in the towns of Attleboro, Berkley, Dighton, Easton, Lakeville, Mansfield, Middleboro, North Attleboro, Norton, Plainville, Raynham, Seekonk, or Taunton.
